Christofer talade på Liberty ball 2011

Den 4:e februari var Christofer, tillsammans med bland annat P J O´Rourke (se bilden ovan) inbjuden att middagstala vid 2011 års Liberty Ball i Bryssel. Temat för året var Ronald Reagan och ett utdrag ur Christofers tal följer nedan. Det var en ära att få vara inbjuden att tala tillsammans med en av den politiska världens främsta och mest underhållande talare. Dagens lästips är för övrigt P J O´Rourke´s bok Eat the rich.
Utdrag ur Christofers tal:
“There are few people who have influenced the world I grow up in as much as great Ronald Reagan. It tend to forget about it, but unlike my parents I had the privilege to grow up in a free and democratic Europe. And if there is a single person I think we should pay tribute to that for, it is Ronald Reagan.
But when I was little I was afraid of the Soviets, world wars and nuclear weapons. I knew where the bomb shelter were, where I would hide when, not if, the worst happened.
My younger brother, born 1993, don’t even know what a bomb shelter is. I actually called him earlier today and asked him what he is afraid of. And what did he reply? Gollum!
That is in all its simplicity a fantastic example of how much better Europe is today. And there is someone that I think we should give thanks for this, someone who servs as a symbol for not compromising with communism, it’s Ronald Reagan.”
